My dates in the Chinese universities
Xinxiang University (15 et 16 of marsh 2013)
A jùn mǎ 俊 马 tale 故事
de François de la Chevalerie
It was a day of marsh 2013 with a cloudy sky, my first trip to Xinxiang (新乡), a city in the northern part of the Henan Province.
I was committed to make a lecture at the Xinxiang University.
At the railways station, Raymond Yun, welcomed me. Because of his somewhat American accent, he seems to be a native of Kansas City or Denver.
Wearing tiny glasses, he has a subtle intelligence, having always the right word to reinforce my obviously poor knowledge of Chinese.
In addition to him, the international Exchange center of the University of Xinxiang gathers a team leading by Mrs. Li, an elegant and charming woman gifted by a warm smile in her face that gives confidence to anyone, and two young gentlemen, Simon Wei and Franck Wei.
They aren’t brothers but colleagues.
Franck Wei speaks with a notable English accent the one you can hear in the cities of Manchester or Birmingham.
The other mate, Simon Wei is pursuing the wonderful goal to be a dedicated father. Preparing himself for such challenge, he rejected all consumption of alcohol. A wise guy in our today time.
My lecture went on.
I talked about the organization of higher education in France and the environmental issues.
The stylized amphitheatre gathers 300 students around the age of 20 years old.
I underlined to them that following the built up of China by the generation of their father over the last thirty years, at their turn, they must render China safer taking care on the environment, targeting a better life.
I was amazed by the reactivity of the students.
Their questions witness their awareness on their own future.
At the same time, they asked me some funny questions as if I were a member of the whole student family. They didn’t look at me as a strict lecturer but as their mate.
The day after, I met the teachers, talented persons eager to understand how to cooperate with France.
At the end, I had a meeting with Mr. Wu, the President of the University, an handsome man, mindful.
We signed a letter of intent.
A beginning for the long term commitment I will have with the beautiful university of Xinxiang.
